The file upload applet used currently isn't very Z friendly. I seem to recall that it used to work OK with the Z, so is there any chance of that coming back?

which browser are you trying to use?

I've tried it under Links, Dillo, and probably Eppiphany. It hasn't played nice with any of them. I'm tghinking it mmakes too much use of Javascript.
