Yopy 3700 Wireless Cf Card

hi,I have a yopy 3700 pda with a cf slot, running linux(linupy) and X windows and  cannot get it to reconise my Origo Wireless LAN IEEE 802.11b NL-2511CF Mercury'. wifi card,it came with the yopy that i purchased from ebay,but the chap i purchased it from said that he had never tried it,does anybody know how to get the yopy to reconise it and hopyfully get it working so that i can go on line with it.

any help would be very gratefully recieved

the mercury card is a prism2 chipset, and AIUI it needs firmware uploading to it when the system boots, and then you use the hostap drivers.

hopefully this is enough to search the forum and get started, if you get stuck let us know.

hi again,been searching for firmware but can only find pci and usb versions and mines a cf card wi-fi device,so would any of them work with my card and if so which one,i think my linux kernal is ver 2.1 and how would you load it,as a packet ? and then load the hostap driver  the same way?

I mean it is running linupy 2.1 which is the yopys version of linux which is quite old,sometime in the early 2000's

I mean it is running linupy 2.1 which is the yopys version of linux which is quite old,sometime in the early 2000's
The only other bit of info that i have been able to gleam is that it is running ARM Linux an early version i gather compatable with linupy 2.1

hi,have you read the rest of my reply's as i do not know which version of firware to load pci or usb as my wi-fi card is a cf card,also would i load it as a packet from my mmc card and the load the hostap drive in the same way? my yopy is running linupy 2.1 which is an early 2000 to 2005 version of linux. best regards malcolm

Hi,
I downloaded the firmware for my Zonet Mercury ZCF1100 card from here:
http://www.netgate.com/info/miniPCI/Prism/Firmware/help.html
I would use the latest reliable version of the firmware if I were you

IIRC (if i recall correctly) I flashed it in a laptop's PCMCIA slot using an adaptor as I didn't have working prism utils at the time

That said, if hostap works with WPA then I would not reflash as there is a small risk of bricking your card.
