5500 Package manager problem!

I was trying to load a software package(qpe-terminal, maybe - can\'t remember exactly but it was something that had loaded perfectly well before) - anyway all that I now get is \"Searching for packages\" message + the eggtimer  and the only way out of it seems to be a reset(with the switch on the back) then after it reloads and I try the same - same result. Any clues  how I get out of this situation?

Problem seems to be with my PNY SD256 card - if I remove that then I don\'t get the problem. I can access the SD card ok otherwise, i.e. move around directories on it, copy and delete files - it just seems to be when the package manager is looking for packages!
