Date/Time Setting
« on: April 11, 2004, 07:17:57 pm »
Ok.  I\'m having a bunch of problems setting my Z\'s clock.

I\'m simply doing a date command from an xterm:
# date MMDDhhmmYY   (Yes, I know about hwclock... see below)

If I set the clock while X is running, the thing goes into suspend
mode.  When I turn it back on, the date/time is reset.

If I set the clock before starting X, everything looks ok.  But, if I
go into suspend mode and back... the thing locks up on me!  Very
strange.

Also, it seems that whenever I use hwclock:
# hwclock --systohc
The Z locks up on me.

Nothing in ANY of the logs...

Any ideas?

I\'m on a C760 running the latest 1.0.5 pdaXrom.

Thanks.

-John

hwclock hangs on me too, but I can just Ctrl-C it - it doesn\'t lock the OS.

It looks like it doesn\'t actually lock up my Z.

Scenario:
1. Set date
# date 0411164504
2. Start x
# startx

Everything looks great.

3. Suspend.
4. Wakeup
- Clock is messed up.  it says 8:30am. (who knows what day)
- Mouse, stylist not operational.

I can still ssh into the box.

I ran xev after sshing into the box.  It comes up on the screen,
but does not report ANYTHING from the keyboard or mouse.

But, I let the screen blank (timeout) and when I touch the screen,
it wakes up... go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas?  Anything I can do to help debug?

Thanks!

has this been resolved / progressed?

I\'m still using 1.0.0 but doing

hwclock --systohc

works for me.

However after a apm --suspend (on the command line) it starts to drift badly.

Of course this doesn\'t stop the x refresh thing when you resume.

We are working on fixing this (among many other things) in the upcomming release.. Please be patient and hopefully we will soon have a new ROM out that will fix many of the problems in the current 1.0.5 release. If you wan\'t to speed up the process you can always donate or maybe visit our site advertersiers.

Great news Laze.  I don\'t wish to seem impatient (not at all).  I love the work done on pdaxrom, have done since the second x11 rom.  And yes I will make a donation now ;-) (something I\'ve shirked so far - hangs head in shame -).

Very excited about the new rom btw, very excited.

Chris: Thank your very much for supporting us.

Im fast learning programming and i will probally be doing many of the smaller programs/apps like the time/settings - but don\'t worry the won\'t be buggy - we have a very strict and much improved testing of programs.

Is there a difference between when it suspends on its own and when suspend is chosen from the openbox menu? Asking because when it suspends on its own the clock resets to Dec 31, but suspending from the menu last night it only drifted a couple minutes. Does the second way invoke a routine that does more with the clocks?

I'm making a donation for you now too

You should make some betas available of the rom for those of us willing to reflash a few times, we're a good testing ground honest
