Cacko-QT, pdaXrom, and TKC Rom all have their Pro\'s and Con\'s. When I\'m fed up with all the bits and pieces that son\'t work as I would like to have them I install one of the others, and so cycle through them. IMHO proto\'s ROM has the best GUI looks.

Is OZ 3.3.6 really worth looking at in respect of OE coming as replacement at some point? I tried OZ once but it looked very unstable...

Peter
Just switched back from pdaXrom 1.0.5 to Cacko 1.2.1, as I had prblems with switching it on,

OE is quite simply a build system, a set of scripts. As such it replaces the old buildroot system (also a set of scripts, etc.) but is still used to build OZ and its apps.

I run with OZ, it seems quite stable to me.

I too had problems with OZ on my old 5500, seemed very unstable, lots of things felt broken or unfinished and I had unpredictable performance. I liked the aqua-kinda-theme but icons were mis-aligned in the tabs, a black line persisted on the bottom of my screen which vexed me.  For day-to-day use it wasn\'t for me, but I did like the themes.

proto appears to have vanished there are no Cxxx apps to reload back on after installing tkcROM, but it did look nice. Maslovsky should incorporate the gui scheme (and X).

As the Cacko team seems committed to pdaXrom, the QT ROM should be clearly separated with a new name and it\'s own website etc. Maybe \"Uncle Maslovsky\'s QT ROM\" ;-)

The poll having two choices is probably indicative of the fact that for many there really is only two choices for a working stable platform, aside from the Sharp ROM.

IMHO, YMMV.
;-)
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

I\'m using the Cacko ROM. Even if running pdaX might get my system
look more like my Linux laptop, I need the PDA PIM functionality (esp.
calendar). Lack of a good calendar is a showstopper for me.

Currently running pdaXrom.

From my admittedly limited experience, having run OZ and pdaXrom on my c750, OZ is at least as stable as pdaXrom. If by stability you are actually talking about usability, I\'d hazard a guess that OZ actually has more useable apps than pdaXrom (not to knock pdaXrom, rather to put the statement into context). I don\'t think what you are saying is true.

I read somewhere that the wall GPE project from Familiar can now be built with OE buildsystem.
If my memory is good, I also remember about something like: \'Familiar will be released using OE build system\'.
If so, my dream to see a common effort on PDA will become true. OE/Familiar will become the dreamed Linux OS for all PDA and embedded system (with Opie/Qtopia and X11) and playing with Debian dependencies will terminate the work. Where should I sign?

LazyBug, ready for PIM on a X11 rom?
