From what I gather, the Google/Android certification ensures that:
- no malware is installed
- Google Play Protect (antivirus, Find My Device) and Google Apps (YouTube, Maps, Gmail, Chrome and Google Search) are installed
- Play Store apps work as intended (i.e. common functionalities such as backup and restore, or purchased video playback are working)
https://www.android.com/certified/This would be certainly useful, but without the certification we'd still get both Android and the Play Store, so for me this won't be a dealbreaker.
