CPU-Z screenshots

Posted upon request here, screenshots (attached) of the CPU-Z (v1.25, Android) results for a first-production run device (order #79, received 01/03/18 - manufacturing date see screenshot)

Hi woot, thanks for registering here and for the screenshots. As you can see, the CPU is recognized as a Helio X25 instead of an X27, while Planet has announced in the past an X27 would be used as the CPU in place of an X25. I have checked the CPU-X tool’s changelogs and the X27 support has been implemented (CPU-Z for Android 1.22, January 19th, 2017, the latest version is 1.25):

So either CPU-X’ CPU detection fails on the Gemini for some reason, or at least some of the shipped Geminis have an x25 onboard. I hope that Planet will comment about this soon.

These are what I knew off up till now.
and it is raising my and many concern of the QC
It is not the resellers/repair centers are next door.

Actually the T stands for helio X25, where X stand for Helio 27

Following the concerns expressed by some of the early recipients about the actual CPU which had been installed in the initial production models of the Gemini, I asked the question on Planet Computers Facebook page, and have just received the following reply from Robin Parker at Planet:

"Hi David, We have investigated the issue of the processor model and we can now confirm that the current production units are powered by the X25 chip, not X27. We have alerted the factory as they have told us they would be using X27 processor instead of the X25 that was in our original specification, due to the availability of the X25 chips and similarity of the specifications.

We are awaiting a full response from the factory on this issue and we will keep you updated. Regards, Robin!"

I have also posted this on the Gemini Planet Facebook page where it is currently attracting a lot of comments!

Thanks Montala for the news, pity about this mess. As I already commented on IG, at least one positive thing of this is that, although slower, the X25’s memory controller supports up to 6GB of RAM, compared to the 4GBs of the X27, so it might be possible to upgrade the memory from 4GB to 6GB by desoldering/resoldering the memory chips(s).

On the other hand however, the X27 is a newer CPU and newer is (almost) always better.

The difference is small, but the x27 should be more energy efficient and also has a little bit extra power.
