Using HDMI adaptor under Android
« on: March 05, 2018, 05:49:36 am »
Hi
I am trying to mirror my Gemini to my TV using the HDMI adaptor but I can't get it to work. The best I get is for the Gemini to recognise that the adaptor is plugged in, but my TV simply shows an "Out of Range" message at all its display settings. It may be a video resolution issue but the Gemini only offers an auto video resolution option with no way to vary it.

Suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Hello geomannie,

Works fine on my Pioneer. I had to toggle the screen size on the TV to reduce overscan. I also had to power the Gemini on with the HDMI connection already set to get a display, but you've obviously done that as you get the video resolution screen. The TV info shows 1080.

Are there no other settings you can try on your TV, or any other HDMI ports?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. The only thing I hadn't tried was powering up the Gemini while connected. Unfortunately, this does not help.

Other devices (Xbox, Rasberrry Pi) connect OK so I am a bit perplexed. I have tried a different cable as well as all available HDMI ports and TV settings.

Thanks

cant get it to work either.

i tried a usb-c to hdmi cable and a powered usb-c hub with hdmi outlet.

in android under screen options HDMI is enabled.

maybe 'm missing the way it should work.

what i'm expecting is that when i hook it up to the TV i automatically get a screen mirror?

or should i start some app or use some in-app setting?

really hope anyone can help me with this in a step by step explenation.

thx!

The Gemini board doesn't have HDMI out. Instead, you have to use the HDMI adapter sold by Planet, as it includes the HDMI functionality in the cable itself. You cannot use any other USB C to HDMI adapter.

I bought the USB-HDMI adapter from Planet, but it doesn't work. Neither with my TV set (Loewe) nor with a classroom projector. At one try with the TV, the picture appeared a few seconds on the screen but then it disappeard. Seems that, while there is obviously some HDMI output from the Planet adapter, there is some kind of synchronisation or resolution problem.

I had a similar issue with the HDMI adapter I had for my Macbook. It was the official Display-port to HMDI adapter from Apple. When I was in the Philippines, it wouldn't work with any of the TV's there, even though it worked fine with my TV's in the US. I don't know if that helps, but it made me wonder if there wasn't some kind of region locking involved, or a sync issue of some kind.
