Planet's online store
« on: April 12, 2018, 04:11:01 am »
Today I have stumbled upon this:

https://store.planetcom.co.uk/

Has it been officially launched by Planet, i.e. mentioned in any of their updates on Indiegogo? Does anybody know if it's already possible to buy any of the items there (or order, as I don't think they already have stocks of the Gemini or the camera add-on)?

18. Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and any disputes will be decided only by the English courts.

19. Returns

In order to ensure our customers receive the best level of service and we offer a comprehensive returns policy in the unlikely event that you are not 100% satisfied your cameras or accessories delivered. Please note that the following returns procedure must be followed, and failure to do so may result in us being unable to exchange goods or provide refunds. Also please be aware that we cannot be held responsible and provide refunds/exchanges on stock affected by circumstances beyond our control. This includes damage and neglect after goods are received, goods being stored in climatic conditions such as extremes of temperature that can affect some items and damage by third parties.

Should you wish to return an item for any reason please notify us within 48 hours of receipt of your order of any part that is unsatisfactory. In order to arrange a return, please contact us and inform our customer service team of your order number, the item you are returning and the reason for the return.

We will then reply with a unique returns authorisation number and the address you need to send the item to.

You'll need to package the item securely and include:

Your order number
The returns authorisation number
Whether a replacement or refund is needed
The reason why you are returning the item.
Goods returned should be in their original condition and packaging in which they arrived, along with a copy of the invoice or delivery note.

Once received items will be checked and refunds on goods and postage arranged where suitable. We cannot issue refunds on simply unwanted goods due the perishable nature of goods on sale. Refunds/exchanges will only be offered on items that are faulty, and were clearly so at the time at which they were dispatched.

Shipping fees will not be refunded. When free shipping was included in the product purchase(s) - the cost of shipping the item to you, of £9.99 (including VAT), will be deducted from the total amount to be refunded.

How is that far and unfair? All of the backers who have yet to get their's don't know that they have 48 hours before it becomes their problem. I know that it was not until week 2 that I started getting the temp warning telling me to remove the battery. So unless PC is going to rectify the issues with backers getting the X25 CPU while the other backer get the X27 I am not going to give them a pass on this because as post by other members the battery size has changed so saying the it was to come with a X25 CPU and that if you backed early you are stuck with the X25 CPU is not a good thing to do. I worked just as hard as the late backers for my money yet get less then them due to a mistake made by PC. So yes PC might make exceptions to their rules but if not for everyone then that is not fair.

Is that the T&Cs from the online store being quoted?

No need to worry about those in Europe if purchasing from the online store, because it is covered by Distance Selling Regs and also by statutory warranty (and sale of goods act in UK) which trumps any T&Cs. Which is why it's more expensive.

Indiegogo perks are a different deal completely because it's not a normal sale transaction - we are giving money fund a project to create a new product.  But we are well aware of that when we back the project and accept the risk.  For IndieGogo we depend on the goodwill of Planet to take care of us, and they have been pretty good, sending out new keyboard mats etc.

Although someone did successfully challenge the wording in a UK court on a failed project (Vega+), IGG have since tightened that one up.

Yes that was copied from PC website. You are correct in that PC is sending out new keyboard mats but for those that damaged their Gemini's Keyboard caps what is being done for them? I will be waiting for PC to get their repair facility up and going then send mine in to have it fixed/repaired.

No slight intended.

'Unfair' in the sense that 'screwed' implies finality without recourse, which is premature now in the middle of production runs and improved QC by PC and factory.

Everything about PC's slow-to-respond but willingness to help resolve keyboard mat / wonky keys issues, and their announced plans for a repair department to open presently, suggests to me that they will eventually fix your keyboard / keys. That said, I wouldn't expect PC to replace the X25 chip in a repaired device.

Nevertheless, frankly, my further sense is that PC might very well replace your Gemini with a new device (which will have the X27 chip, newer mat and whatever else has been tweaked since the first production run).

Were I you, I'd try patience (I am NOT a patient man) because that state might prove beneficial in the long run.

My strategy has been to order a second Gemini just before the price went up. I will have a spare if required, but if my Gemini looks OK I should be able to offload one without loss.

That seems like good advice.

The folks at Planet seem to be doing their best by their customers, within the limits of their tiny operation.  Right now I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt.  (And I hope I'd still feel that way if I had a faulty unit…  )

And the less hassle they get from their users, the more time they have for working on improvements &c!

https://store.planetcom.co.uk/collections/a...dmi-video-cable

basically GB£40 for the video cable
or US$53.70

I had been expecting to buy one, thinking it would be £5 to £10 at most!!
