Sophos virus result on WirelessUpdate
« on: May 04, 2018, 06:20:56 pm »
Any thoughts on Sophos identifying WirelessUpdate as "Andr/Xgen2-P" virus / PUA? I haven't been able to find much info on this result and Sophos doesn't provide an option to remove it unlike for the "low reputation" Gemini branded apps (which I obvious won't be uninstalling).

Now this is some serious issue, I hope Planet will notice this thread and investigate on it, though I guess this will be probably a false alarm.

They are looking into it:

Regarding Sophos, we will investigate on our side, but I would [not] worry. WirelessUpdate is the software used to update the Gemini firmware.
It's very much likely that Sophos does not like it as it has higher then usual privileges to handle the firmware update.

We will follow up on this.
