As useful as this howto is, it has two things I would like changed:
- The key combinations to select boot option are incorrect for anyone downloading the image after the 6th of March 2018 (see comment from Planet - dguidi). Its worth trying all four possible key combinations on boot before deciding that your flashing has failed. The important window is the couple of seconds between the buzz at boot and the appearance of the tux-splash screen. The switch to having a Tux on the splash screen is enough to let you know that you've got the dual boot image flashed. See also gemian wiki Bootloader page (dated tables of key combinations and booted result).
- The top background image is from the previous round of linux work that was demonstrated last year showing the HDMI output, this is not yet implemented in the new round of Linux work (new is using https://halium.org/), I fear this is miss-selling.
Edit (2018-05-10):
- Thanks for updating the guide with the description from Davide's comment, which I assumed must have been based upon a third secret update to the bootloader to prioritise the linux over the recovery, Davide and others have confirmed that the key combination tables on the above mentioned Bootloader page are still correct for the current download it has not changed since 2018-03-06. Unfortunately the user must also release the ESC key whilst still holding the Silver Side button for Linux to be selected. With a reboot from Android there is no need to ever touch the ESC key which makes things simpler.
