I owned pretty much every Psion so I guess I purchased for nostalgia.

Twenty years on from the fantastic Series 3C REVO and 5 I tend to use macOS and Windows.

I'm happy with my smartphone a Xiaomi Mi A1

What will I do with the Gemini, £310 purchase, it's not for sale.

I do help with system administration but it's W7 and W10 based via Logmein.

I'm sort of thinking I would be better with Gemini 2nd gen 8GB ram W10

To help answer question, do you have any interest in using Android?

If not, you can do as I just did this morning and install Debian.....

Other issue is what do you want to be able to do with a little pocket computer?

Email?  Web browsing? Watch videos? Notes? etc, etc......

If you're not interested in or need/want to do such things on a computer that fits in a pocket, ie, take with you everywhere form, then maybe you don't need a Gemini...

On the other hand.....if you do and want to use a physical keyboard, then you'll be glad you have a Gemini....

However, I am intrigued by the prospect that the Sailfish OS is an in-project development (if not by Jolla then by whomever...?) for the Gemini.
Anyway. I look forward to its availability, perhaps by year's end.

It's possible that Jolla may be doing a Sailfish 3 for Gemini  - 3rd or 4th quarter 2018.

For this I am prepared to pay money, as it offers an credible alternative of Android and iOS, both of which I dislike.

It would be good for all consumers if Sailfish grew into a viable system of app support alongside the two dominant OSes.

If you do not plan to use Gemini as your daily-driver (phone replacement) that is of course your prerogative.  I am doing so and have no regrets, however.

I do not have much experience with logmein, but for what it is worth, Microsoft's remote desktop client for android and TeamViewer remote control both work great on the Gemini for administering Windows boxes.  And juicessh serves my linux needs aside from an apparent issue with the page-up/page-down hardware keys (worked around via juicessh built-in pop-up keyboard).

My desire for drop-in smartphone replacement with amazing keyboard precludes me from going full linux so far.  But as a secondary device, many more options present themselves.
