Which ROM?

Perhaps use \'su\' to make sure you\'re root.

Si
C750 OZ3.5.4 (GPE, 2.6.x kernel)
SL5500 OZ3.5.4 (Opie)
Nokia 770
Serial GPS, WCF-12, Socket Ethernet & BT, Ratoc USB
WinXP, Mandriva

Thanks for your reply.
The Rom is the Cacko Crow Rom.
Ran whoami and it was root.
Weird thing is that I can write file to /etc ok.

Maybe it is to do with how I unpacked the Pocketworkstation files and the permissions are wrong - Using something like-:
tar -zxpvf debfile*.gz
