Having my corporate agenda in the Gemini
« on: July 25, 2018, 03:47:38 pm »
Hello everybody,

As to avoid double bookings it would be great to have the corporate agenda in my Gemini. Corporate technology is Exchange and Outlook under Windows 10 a long with a corporate iPad 3.
Personal gear is (of course) the Gemini, under stock Android.

Corporate allows BYOD, but if I try to insert the corporate Exchange e-mail address into the Gemini's mail client, corporate wants to cripple the Gemini. If I do not allow that I don't get the e-mail. And... I don't think that this would allow access to the agenda.

So I now do the following:

- iOS version of synccal (synccal.calengoo.com) on the corporate iPad. This syncs to an extra Google account (one way only, not back to the iPad). This Google account is then shared with my real account (and thus read into the Gemini).

The main issue I have with this setup is that the synchro towards Google is manual or semi-manual. I currently use the free version of synccal (onto which I need to hit a button). The paid version has a semimanual option (which activates itself it the iPad detects I am leaving the office).
Now... this semi-manual syncing thing is a bit Psionistic. Reminds me of the beginning of this century.

Any other options or software ?
Is there a program (on the iPad) that would trigger synccal to launch itself, be it a macro-player such as Crontab (remember Crontab ?)

Anyway, I am already happy that I can (somewhat) read my appointments.

Please define cripple?

Is there a reason why you're adding the corporate email to Gemini mail instead of a distinct corporate email application?

Depends on how locked down the employer has it. To get my work email/calendar, etc. on my Gemini (really any Android device, was my HTC U11 before) via Exchange I had to agree to accept their security settings, which included one requiring that a log in password be applied on the Gemini, another giving remote wipe permission, etc., etc.

Indeed. Long password, wipe permission, remote monitoring. The camera would be blocked.

I could live without the e-mail, but having all agenda stuff in one device is a big plus.

Meanwhile, while reading in the iOS part of synccal, I found out that synccal does allow to be set up for a sync once every 30 minutes (be it only in the paid version).
