Unstable Android Apps
« on: February 27, 2019, 01:13:23 am »
This is a list of the apps that are persistently unstable on the Gemini with factory installed android.

Google maps : crashes as soon as you touch a link for more information on something like a restaurant or other landmark
Spotify: does not display saved playlists that are accessable on other devices. Crashes when you open settings.
Evernote: Crashes when you try to open a notebook.

Most of these problems can be worked around by using the app in different ways.

Please let me know if you're experiencing similar problems or have found consistenat problems with other common android apps.

Spotify seems OK for me, the other apps I can't vouch for (I use Here-maps for maps/navigation).

Spotify and Maps work fine for me.  Not used Evernote since moving to OneNote several years ago (and that works fine as well).

Maps used to crash, but after several updates it works fine (I am not using it much, though). The current (working) version is 10.10.1, I do not remember when it started working.

Google maps crashes with me too. It started to happen about 6 months ago, originally it worked fine. So, I guess something to do with an update either of Google maps or the Gemini software / firmware.

I spent sometime trying to resolve the problem, mostly uninstalling and reinstalling things, but nothing seemed to help.

However, I did find that Maps Go. A different, similar mapping app from Google works fine.

No problems noted with Google Maps here.  Works fine for me on the Gemini.
I don't use the other apps so can't comment on these.

PS there seems to be 2 threads on this....
Indeed, I guess it started as a double post, in this case two new threads have been created instead of one. I have now merged them into one, the posts from both threads have been added chronologically, and I have deleted the duplicated posts.
