What does 'broken' CoDi icon mean?
« on: August 26, 2021, 05:13:57 am »
Hi - wondering if anyone has seen the CoDi become unresponsive and only show a 'broken' icon - looks like the CoDi icon used on the 'Cover Display Assistant' app icon except it has a red line through it. (see attachment)

CoDi seems to be on (draining the batter at least:) but not responding to any input from physical keys nor any Cover Display Assistant app commands.

Any thoughts/ideas welcome..

Started when I upgraded the firmware (to v1.1.1.16) but don't know if that's the cause or not. Also, dont see a way to downgrade the firmware - is that possible?

Any help appreciated,
Thanks!

I think you may be able to downgrade with a manual update described here:
https://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Latest_Cosmo_Firmware#Manual_CoDi_firmware_update
https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?topic=36139.0
but I haven't had to try it myself.  The version on the webpage appears to be v14, I'm not sure how you would get hold of v15.  Also, what OS and version are you using, is the firmware on the Cosmo itself up to date?
From memory updating the CoDi firmware has always been entertaining for some, I think when the update is being applied the data passes down the same bus as is used for normal data like notifications etc (or something like that), so it easily gets corrupted unless you go to flight mode, do not disturb, don't breathe for 20 minutes, etc, I wonder if your update to v16 got corrupted on the way through.  There's a reasonable amount of discussion on the CoDi sub forum:
https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?board=214.0
and quite a few of the subjects involve flashing.  I think it just may take the right settings (flight mode, etc) a bit of persistence.

Sorry for the late reply. I don't come here often.

That icon means the main operating firmware *has* been flashed, but the resources image hasn't.

You need to flash the `_resources.bin` - or something like that, manually to CoDi. After doing that, reset CoDi with the app, and reboot the Cosmo.
