bigger font in terminal?
« on: April 28, 2004, 01:25:17 pm »
I returned my 5600 to amazon and brought a sl-c860 from Mobile planet which has a keyboard my big thumbs can type on. But terminal\'s largest font
is too small for my 60 year old eyes without glasses. (one other post said they learned to liive with it).

Any suggestions?

Congratulations to this great purchase / trade and welcome :-)
What Rom do you use? The QKonsole of the Cacko-Rom offers a Lcfont that goes as big as 72! It\'s huge! Try to install the QKonsole or switch to the cacko ROM :-)

To vishnja and Greg2:
vishnja-where are directions for installing Cacko-ROM (and will it work on sl-c860)?
Greg2-font size was  excellent but how do I rotate the screen?
Thanx

Here are the installation instructions:

Please stick squeamishly to the instructions and don\'t forget to install the patch via the package manager:

http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...q=getit&lid=226

And yes, it is just perfect for the C860.

Oops! What do you mean? Can\'t you just swivel it? Otherwise you might have to click and hold on the icon and disable the checkbox with \"Display with magnified screen\".

good luck,

Sorry  I forgot to login
2 more items:
1. How do I get back to current ROM (for $849 one would figure that not all the stuff in box woud be in Japanese but MobilePlanet could deliver next day and http://www.japan-direct.com while only $700 was out for Golden Week)

2.Rotation meant that Qkonsole was always in portrait no matter how I had screen (I want landscape for keyboard)

You can download the original Roms here:

and here is a NAND-backup:

One thing to remember for most non-C7xx or C8xx series apps is to:

A. Hold your stylus on the icon till you get another window to open. Then

B. Uncheck the box that says \"display with magnified screen\". Then

C. Click on the \'OK\' button in the upper right corner of screen.

This usually allows the app to open in landscape orientation instead of portrait when using Z in \'laptop mode\' with keyboard.

Usually works, but YMMV!

Thanxs to ArchiMark and Greg2 qKonsole is working but somehow I have gotten qkonsole 1 into 72 point font and trying to change size exits (I can open more qkonsoles and change font as much as I want).  (I reinstalled and still have the same issue)
Magnify bigger works How do I magnify smaller? (parvify ?? (latin magnus=big parvus=small))

If this is bobsandefur are you still using the original sharp rom? I\'m not familiar with the 860 roms but I\'ll help if I can. On my 5600, I just tap the magnifier on the top right of Qkonsole to change size up to 3 times either way.

Hi Greg2-
Yes this is bobsandefur (I forgot to login again). I get it you just keep tapping and you get cycled from little  to big and  then to smaller. this works except fot qkonsole 1 when trying to change anything causes qkonsole to exit)

I\'ve tried to replicate your problem but I can\'t. Try to close all session tabs by typing exit then close qkonsole the same way and reopen and try again.

Hi greg2-
I did do a reboot while in qkonsole -  would that have left any files locked to the point I can\'t change them?

I had a similar problem.   Delete the qconsole.conf file which save previous state.  I can\'t remember the directory it is in and don\'t have my Z with me right now.

Try the Japanese verison of Terminal that comes with the original CD.  You can set font types, size and even colors.  Dark bkgd and green fonts are a perfect match.
