Newbie having trouble flashing C860 w/ pdaxRom
« on: May 13, 2004, 01:08:38 am »
Hello, could someone give me some advice. I just got my C860 a couple of days ago and just today tried to install the pdaxrom. I\'m stuck on DOS looking type page and can\'t get out! I realise perhaps I shouldn\'t have done this, considering my ignorance of Linux. I do know that it said the new ROM installed okay, then at zaurus login: I\'ve tried the advice on this page:
http://www.pdaxrom.org/index.php?showid=2&menuid=1
and I can\'t get anywhere!?!?!

Thanks for any help!
JP

Have you logged in?

If not log in as root - you dont\' need a password, then type startx to start the GUI.

Step by step -

1. type \"root\" - without the quotes - then hit enter
2. hit enter again when it asks for password
3. type \"startx\" - without quotes - then hit enter
4. wait while the gui starts up.

Not to be rude, but if you can\'t work out how to login then pdaX may not be your cup of tea - try something a little more user friendly like the cacko rom.

That\'s probably the prudent thing to do.
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.
