Clean wipe/restore?
« on: May 13, 2004, 10:15:03 pm »
Is the anyway to do a clean wipe/restore on my Z?
ie. to return it to its \"out of the box\" state with none of its modified settings, apps, or documents.
Thanks,
Harold

If you\'re using a 5600 or 6000 model with an original Sharp rom, then you just need to hold the \"OK\" button, press reset, and select \"Format flash\" from the system menu.  This should restore you to a clean state

Edit: correction after greg2\'s reponse.

The 5000 and the 5500 do not have that maintenance menu.

Still need to know the model?

Trying to restore my 5500 back to a factory state, using a CF i used for OZ flashes no problem, and it doesn\'t seem to want to go. It\'ll error about \'/dev/mtdblock1\' not being formatted, so i do that, then goto reboot, and it cant, so i unplug it, and while the charge light comes on, it\'ll never power back up...
any ideas?
