Hacking Wireless Routers
« on: May 21, 2004, 05:29:03 pm »
Can someone post some links on networking through a wireless router with a zaurus?  (or anything relavant to this)  I am trying to gain access to my other computers through my router, pretty much trying to hack through the router, and setup some type of backdoor on my computers... Without me touching anything on the actuall computer I\'m trying to network to... I\'ve searched all over for techniques/information but alot of sites just say \"learn how to program\".  And I don\'t have time for that...  There has to be some sites out there that simplify the whole hacking process... Pretty much, I got the whole port scan thing down, now where do I go from there?  If anyone know what I\'m trying to say, and they can point me in the right direction, it would be Appriciated.  And just to be clear, I do not intend to use any information in a negative way.  And also, please do not post negative replies about this post (telling me not to try anything, or that it is wrong), and if you can help me out, thnx.

I\'m not getting what your trying to tell me?  I don\'t know how to make it any clearer that I want some information on how to hack a wireless router... Do you really think I was unaware of the fact that I could just create a network connection to connect to the wireless network?  If so, I don\'t think I would be posting err.. posts about hacking...

Well thanks for taking up posting space, even though I requested that people do not reply negatively to this post...  I really think that you have no idea what I am talking about, just... nevermind...

Your original question doesn\'t give enough info to give a useful answer.  For starters, are you trying to connect from the WAN side or the LAN side?  Do you have any wireless security, like WEP or WPA to deal with.  What kind of machines are you attempting to connect to? What exactly are you trying to do?

Can someone post some links on networking through a wireless router with a zaurus? (or anything relavant to this) I am trying to gain access to my other computers through my router, pretty much trying to hack through the router, and setup some type of backdoor on my computers...

I want to know how to create some type of data link between my Zaurus, when it is connected to my wireless router, to other computers on the network (LAN side).  I dont have WEP enabled, to eliminate hassles.  I can run nmap on my zaurus, and scan all the connected computers, and I want to know where I go from there... as far as getting into one of these computers.  And I was looking for a website that would point me in the right direction... I\'ve been to plenty of hacking sites, and all of them seem to have outdated .txt files...  nothing realavent to what i\'m trying to do.  Pretty much to sum it up, think of me as a Warwalker walking by my house trying to get into MY computer THROUGH the wireless network.  Or, one more way to put it, I want to test the security of my wireless router.  (And yes, I do know how to enable WEP, so please dont respond with that..)  And as far as the computers i\'m trying to hack... win 95 through XP

Thanks for your HELP guys...

Hmmmm what you\'re trying is very \"simple\", I mean, what is the big deal? You just add a Z to make it look more... \"cool\"?

[EDIT] I mean you\'re asking us to teach you to \"hack\", but you\'re adding a Z to the equation trying to make your request look less bad. Like asking in a Ferrari forum if someone can teach you to rob a bank using a Ferrari as a get away car... (does this make any sense?)

I\'m just explaining why people make negative comments to that kind of requests... I know you\'ll understand.
[/EDIT]

Most people who\'d like to brake into your network, would almost certainly use a laptop. Therefore they\'d have far more software to play with network than you can have in your Z. Be it netstumbler, retina (others) on Winblow$, nessus, saint, nmap, airsnort, and the likes on linux...

Using the Z you\'d have to map the network with nmap, find possible flawed services on those M$ machines, and then find (write) exploits for those flaws to get access to them, or their content. SMB is a good thing to look at. There\'re more.

I guess that by cutting access to your network with encryption on the AP, and with a firewall after it would be enough. Having the machines fully patched, etc, maybe moving some to Linux... ehehe

LOL Windows does suck
Bluey thanks, that\'s the type of answer I was looking for....
I know that exact process that you were talking about as far as mapping the network, I just wanted to know where a good source would be to find out how to use the exploits, and those other programs to actually gain access... Or does it just come down to that one dreaded answer:  \"Learn how to program, and the hacking will come...\" :?

He\'s saying that this has nothing to do with the Zaurus.  But I guess that\'s why it\'s in the Off Topic forum.

Type \"script kiddie\" into a search engine.  You\'ll find plenty of relevant information.

I mean\'t that what you\'re doing is pretty much what you\'d do with a wired pc, or wireless laptop. The Z doesn\'t add much to your situation, unless you are searching the cool factor of it, by hacking with a Z.

For information... maybe check out www.securityfocus.com, packetstormsecurity.com...

There is no cookbook for hacking, it has many ways of looking into it, be it from the network admin side, or from the hacker side, and it is a very complex matter, it is connected to the tecnology, pc\'s, networks, but has a psicology side too. It is a very interesting thing to study and learn about.

He is not a SK yet I believe. SKs are what ignorant people like him (in the good way, as in lack of knowledge) turn into after being ignored, not answered, and kicked out of forums, IRC channels and the likes by asking innocent questions like the one he did.

I believe it is better to try to show them what is everything (even a bit of it) all about, so they don\'t stay ignorant, and become SKs which don\'t use their free time to learn about protocols and coding, thus evolving, but ruining other peoples\' days.

I never said he was.    But he should learn about them.  Also, if he wants to scan his machine, he can download the script kiddie toolkits and experiment with them a bit.  It was a serious suggestion.
