5500 locking on ROM install
« on: November 29, 2003, 06:07:05 pm »
I have an SL-5500 (factory referb).  I was running the Sharp 3.13 ROM, but wanted to take a look at some of the others.

Loaded tkc, then cacko.  Both ran fine, but I decided to go back to tkc for now.

Now anything I try locks on the first boot after I flash:
-TKC (any version) locks at the \"INIT: version 2.78 booting\" line.  Full Reset needed to clear.
-Cacko (2.4.18 ) locks at \"wait for approx 1 min\" screen. Flipping the battery switch will clear, but locks at the same place.
-OZ (3.2 and 3.3.5) crashes at first boot, screen goes wacky (ramdom pixle colors).

I got Special K to load, it locks at the \"wait for approx 1 min\" screen, but flipping the battery switch lets it continue to load when I start it again.

Is there any help for my Z?

Have you got any files from other ROMs left lying around on your CF card? To be completely sure, you should only have the files for the ROM you are flashing on your CF card and they need to be named correctly.

No, I made sure the root directory of the CF was empty before copying the new files over.  I also re-downloaded the files to make sure I had clean copies and double chedked the files names on the CF.

try new Openzaurus 3.3.5 - in my case my Z5500 (also factory ref.) after Special K second installation was hanging just after powering it on. Nothing but Special K logo and \"Please wait\"...
I decided to flash it with OZ335 and now my Z is still alive (uffff :-))
I hope that this help your Z...
