Anyone know an address that we can inundate with our disapproval of this move? I dont mean being ugly, just a support address where we can ask what happened to the forums and let them know that there is a group of people that would really like to get to the information.

According to the myzaurus.com page (which hasn\'t been updated for about 6 months), the contacts are:
zaurussupport@sharpsec.com
myZaurusMaster@sharpsec.com
Judging from past experience in trying to contact Sharp, I wouldn\'t hold
out much hope. Spencer is the only person at Sharp who ever responded to
an email.

What I really find upsetting, is that Sharp couldn\'t even bother to let us know that they are pulling the plug. I have never ever had the misfortune of dealing with ANY other company that treats it\'s customers with such little respect.

uhm...

1) still exists the other forum: http://externe.net/zaurus/forum/index.php, but I guess we should focus in just one

2) I\'m amazed with sharp actions; develop and ship a new product, and the week after forget about it? Is that the final word to completelly kill this product line? Then, OZ is the way!

Just called up sharp,
They said the \"did not know\" that the site was down, and that they have no ETA as to if it\'s coming back. Supposedly, my concern will be directed to someone higher up on the foodchain.

I spoke with Spencer this morning on his cell phone (glad to know it was his personal phone and not Sharp\'s!).  Apparently he gave his two-weeks notice on Monday, and they just offered him to go the same day.  He said he didn\'t realize that they would shut down the site so quickly, and also that he wasn\'t sure whether or not they would be bringing them back.

Shortly after that I called his (old) manager and left him a message.  I had also met this guy in Vegas.  He hasn\'t returned my call yet, but I still have hopes.

offroadgeek, if possible, can you get a backup of docs.zaurus.com, or the sf.net clone they had?

Apparantly, that was the only source for thekompany\'s rom, and I was hoping to use thier home-on-sd image, which, sadly, I had not downloaded.

The information from docs.zaurus.com was put in the ZUG howto section a while ago by offroadgeek. I\'m sure theKompany will find another place for their ROM quite quickly.
# Search the Zaurus Howtos ## Search the Zaurus FAQs ## Find Z software at ELSI #

Here I am.  My new zaurus is in transit.  I haven\'t even laid a hand on it yet, and Sharp is pulling the plug.

gerry - tumnus is right.. it was the community site that had all the downloads... and I don\'t think anyone mirrored that.

Let\'s see if Sharp responds at all to our requests...

p.s.  tkcrom 2.0alpha 3 initrd.bin -] zug downloads

tkcrom 2.0alpha 3 zimage -] zug downloads

I offered to proto a while ago to mirror the tkcrom files on the ZUG, but he said that he was happy with them on the community site

I just hope thekompany doesn\'t host them on their server.. .they have terrible throughput!

I\'m getting an 860.  Its in the country (Canada) at customs so I should have it tomorrow or Friday.

P.S.  Even without Sharp support - I\'m sure I\'ll still enjoy it.  As long as I can get the development tools, I\'ll be able to do everything I want with it.

I just got a 760 a few weeks ago. I\'m not at all impressed with Sharp, but I am thoroughly enthralled with my Z!

well it looks like it will be opie for my zaurus.
Glad I didn\'t  spend too much time re-writing notessync, it would be for nothing.
I\'ll just make it work with opie
