pdaXrom Calculator with RPN ported

I had a play with the pdaXrom SDK and I compiled Calcoo, a RPN calculator as the default xcalc is not too appealing, if anyone wants the binary or upload it somewhere then PM me, there is no ipk. Yes it's big, 695K but it was small enough for me not to notice.  It's actually quite nice as I prefer RPN, but you can use algebraic too and it fits on the screen nicely. Anyway, it's there if you guys want it just PM me.

Calcoo looks like a nice simple RPM calc. What I really want is to have the HP48GX Emulator, x48 - and I do - lardman has compiled it for arm and it works great. Only problem is it doesn't fit on the screen  

If I ever get any spare time, I'm going to have a go at re-arranging the layout of x48 so that it fits nicely into 640x480.

Yes lardman's x48 port inspired me to look for a new calculator, I ran it on mine, it looked great.  The TI-92 emulator would seem to fit the 640x480 on the C series much better, I think TI has released the ROMs for public download, so I'll have a go porting that to X/Qt or pdaXrom if I can.

I must say, the ONLY redeeming feature of my former Clie was (I think it was called) Power48, a HP calculator emulator which was too cool for words.

I've never used a TI calculator before - been a HP devotee for many years... But I decided to have a look and see what it was all about.....

The TI-92 looks very cool, and yes I agree, should fit into 640x480 nicely.


Any efforts to port a TI-92 emulator would be appreciated by at least one person.

Yep.

Looking at that makes me think how good this could be. I'm certainly going to look into this.  I've used this emulator on a desktop and it was good, would make an invaluble addition to my Z.  I'm just keen that anything I port can work on pdaXrom OR X/qt and I haven't looked into that yet.

You know, there is some project to make a Linux PDA/Calculator, it's basically got HP and TI emulators, I can't see any reason why the Z should not have the same.  ticalc.org and hpcalc.org seem to be good places to start.

TI89 emulator, HP48GX emulator... and both can be used in portrait or landscape mode because of screen keys... whooo I'm impressed.

I'm impatient to see them working on pdaXrom. My real TI89 and the mortal remains of my HP48GX will both be jalous, hehe

I have the TiEmu (and original tiger) source, I also put a fair bit of effort into trying to work out how to get it working, but without success.

The later versions require a kernel module to enable a serial link, I couldn't be bothered to work through all of the TiEmu source to weed out the references to this (and I hadn't worked out how to make kernel modules back then - all of this is on the devnet, take a look at my posts there).

I also have the tiger source from which TiEmu was developed (iirc), but never got round to compiling it.

I'll take a look on my PC at home and dig out the various bits and bobs if anyone's interested.

Though the screen is still a bit small to see everything clearly.

I've looked at the Tiger code.

But it looks x86 only.


TiEmu stands more chance in terms of easy of compilation, but I'm getting an error when I try to compile libticables (one of the 3 lib dependencies for TiEmu itself). I doubt people really want the cable support (and it needs libusb, is this available?) so it might be quicker and easier to just take the cable stuff out.

Any volunteers ;-)?

House of Fish eh?  I don't like fish, makes me ill.

The emulator you refer to I did look at when I had a 5500, I had an issue with it but I cannot remember what. I'm not even sure if it works on a VGA display.

It's also a very basic calc in comparison to the Ti92+ which TiEmu/Tiger can emulate.

I'm using Neocal for Qtopia.  It has an RPN entry method which you may optionally select.  (I don't know whether this runs on your "C-" Zauri -- I'm a 5500 user.)

I downloaded a version that claims to be freeware, but I don't think they distribute the freeware version.  The current versions are $20 shareware.

I don't like paying for software, but this has a hex / dec / binary calculating mode that is  probably worth the $ (as I have not found any better as yet).

you should look at the krc3 rom it has a realy good calculator will do hex/dec/binary calculating it's free. if you like it make a donation
