Ok I give up. After countless hours upon hours of trying to get Wifi running on this thing, I realize that all my efforts were worthless. At one point I had a good connection for a while and I was sshing into my zaurus from my laptop. For some reason, it pulled in a local IP address but couldn't get onto the internet.
Then I wanted to make sure the connection was legit, so I pulled the Wifi card out and waited a minute. After putting it back in, it could no longer pull the connection up. After many failed attempts and Googling, I was able to pull the connection up once more. It wouldn't pull an IP address though. Meanwhile, my laptop is sitting on my lap the whole time connected perfectly fine using a Microsoft WiFi card (how's the irony in that).
On that note, I'm really tired of this 5600. It has not lived up at all to my expectations. With tkcRom, I had my Linksys WiFi card that connected good, but it froze the whole Zaurus to the point where I couldn't use it at all after a minute of being connected. Zynergy was ok, but one of the most important things, the package installer, doesn't work. OpenZaurus, which is what I'm using now, is my favorite. But without WiFi, this Zaurus is not worth the investment I put into it. I've tried two different cards, the popular Ambicom and the popular Linksys model.
I've been using linux for years, and nothing has been more of a pain to get up and running than my Zaurus (though I'm not counting my first encounters with Slackware). I'm debating ditching the 5600 and going with the more supported 5500. I've also seen how there is a lot of support for the C series, so maybe that. Regardless, my days with the 5600 are numbered.
