GTK+ support
« on: December 09, 2003, 09:23:12 pm »
Hi, I saw the image that Abiword is running from the cacko site.  Thanks to the team!  I found in the Abiword site that it requires GTK+ to run.  Does it mean that the X11 ROM contains GTK+ support?  Which would mean a lot more good stuff may be ported!

yep, I believe we do have GTK support. There is a package for it as well in the X11 feed on the site.

what about for the 5500?  which distro has the gtk+ package ported to it for the 5500, anyone know?  i\'m assuming that there is an x11-based distro for the 5500 (sorry, i\'m very new to zaurus hacking) ... but if its not, then what about getting gtk+fb (framebuffer) support working at least?

anyone else working on this?  i\'ve got apps in gtk+ that i want to port to the 5500, so if its not there yet, i\'m willing to work on it ...

@torpor: GPE just about works but with limitations (not least that you have to be very careful setting it up and that suspending is an issue). Xqt is the method I currently favour though I will be looking into getting the X, GTK+, etc and eventually GPE stuff integrated into the OZ OE build system in the fullness of time.

Take a look at Xqt (there\'s a thread in the General Discussion part of the forum).

cool, thanks ... i\'ll look at the Xqt stuff right now ... and if I can help with the OE integration on the 5500, you\'ll be hearing from me!
