KA/Pi won't start.
« on: July 11, 2004, 04:53:32 pm »
I installed KA/Pi yesterday, and today it won't start at all anymore.
The hourglass shows up in the taskbar, then disappears, but KA/Pi itself never shows up.
I'm using the latest from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=112604
Where do I check the error logging. I tried removing/reinstalling it, but it didn't work.
I'm running out of options I think.

I just tried OpieMail ( I installed it at the same time, but never got around to trying it), and it has the exact same problem. What the hell is wrong with this thing

Please start it from console with "kapi" and let me know, what the output is.

How many contacts do you have in KA/Pi?
What resources do you have configured?
Do you have fastload enabled?

After getting the output, please disable fastload, close KA/Pi and other.
Make a backup of your data.
Now rename (HOMEDIR)/kdepim to kdepimbup.
(Use command mv)

Now try to start again.

Let me know, what happens.

Thx,
z.

Re-installed the microlibs and that seemed to do the trick for both kapi and the mail app.
In the process I've grown really, really tired of the Sharp setup though. ipkg list doesn't work, so it's a pain to figure out which packages you've installed/removed from the CLI.
Tons of normal CLI commands are missing switches, it's a real pain.
But thanks for the help and the responsiveness. Color me impressed

This is turning me crazy. Now kopi won't start.

bash-2.05$ kopi kopi: Symbol __vt_9KListView' has different size in shared
object, consider re-linking Display size = 480x640 could not open

KOEventEditor/Edit Event QLibrary open failed!:
/home/QtPalmtop/lib/libqsfepj.so, libkke.so.1: cannot load shared object
file: No such file or directory

After a reinstall of the ipkg, I get:

bash-2.05# kopi
kopi: error while loading shared libraries: libmicrokdepim.so.1: cannot load
shared object file: No such file or directory

More library mess, hurray

Reinstalled the whole thing (PIM + microlibs), and Kopi starts fine. So do Kapi and Om/Pi. Hurray. Free at last. To the moon!

Last question: Is there any easy way to import a large number of Vcards into Kapi?

Try
Code: [Select]
ipkg status and
Code: [Select]
ipkg files to list the packages installed nad the files installed for a given package.

What CLI are you missing?

You could try upgrading your busybox or installing arm-utils (available from ZSI)

the vcard import functionality of Ka/Pi can import vcards. And it even handles the case you have multiple vcards in one file.

If your vcards are not in one file you should merge them first to be more efficient.

thanks,
Ulf
