Dear pdaXrom Team!

I read your progress report and I can hardly wait the release. Is there a way to get the developer version of the ROM? You could set up a repository for the sources and write a short FAQ about how to compile it.

You (Laze) told you need time to test the new version. I think a more open developing style can help you. Make the source available or make daily snapshots from it in binary image.
I'm not a programmer, I can't code for you, PayPal doesn't work from my country (I often click on your ads however ). But I use pdaXrom frequently and I can help to test it. I think I'm not alone and I won't be the only one who uses the developer version.

(And yes, if you use and modify GPL sources, you have to make them available, but I don't want to be this the main reason to make them available )

And the last sentence: Sorry for the mistakes in the text, english is not my native language.

Best regards,
Zumi

I've been wondering about this too, theres a lot of investment already in pdaXrom by the developers and us users, it would be nice to know the sources for the whole thing can be downloaded easily.
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

That could also encourage forks of pdaXrom.  It's a great rom, and I also purchased a c860 because of that rom.

Also, by setting up a CVS, we could even all work on it together.

We have alot of room for improvement we know :-)

We are currently working on completing the first release candicate of the new ROM - and it very closed to be completed - probally in the next couple of days.. So patience.

When the ROM is released we will start looking into CVS/SourceForge solutions and it likes.

Until then please use the slow and unstable server: http://www.tomsk400.com/pdaXrom/

UPDATE: Due to personal/private problems there might be a slight delay to the release - we will keep you posted.

That's great, thankyou very much.  I know there was a mention on another thread the FSF had stipulated that the source has to be provided in regards to the OE stuff, so I guess this means you are in compliance.

I hope it's nothing serious  , you guys take all the time you need, we can wait...

Thanks Laze.

Laze -- you're welcome to tar/mirror the source from tomsk, etc...
to zaurus.spy.org (pdaxrom.spy.org? cacko.spy.org?) etc.  There
is plenty of space and bandwith -- although I only have 1000GB/mo
I noticed their latest page says 2000GB/mo and is $10 cheaper
@ $69/mo.  :->

That's OK, I'm waiting for the RC version!

With other ROMs Zaurus is a good PDA, but with pdaXrom it becomes a small supercomputer.™
Thank you for your good work!
