wlan0 card comming up as eth0
« on: June 02, 2004, 12:46:18 pm »
Under OZ3.2, my wifi card is unknown until I do a cardctl ident and add the details to /etc/pcmcia/config. When this is done, it pics up the card and works as normal, but instead of assigning it to wlan0, it assigns it to eth0. Can anybody tell me why this is? I realise it\'s purely cosmetic, but I\'m puzzled. It uses orinoco_cs.

Thanks.

Al.

The driver author chooses the interface name. The orinoco folks prefer eth.
