Force CF card to be recognized?
« on: July 16, 2004, 02:55:38 pm »
My Wifi CF card is almost always identified as Anonymous Memory when it is inserted.  About 1 out of every 10 times, it is recognized correctly.  Is there any way to force the system to see it as a wifi card and load the appropriate modules?  Also, would this problem be a symptom of a failing CF card, or a failing CF port on the Zaurus?

Could be either. It could also be a bent pin in the CF slot or lots of dust/dirt in the CF slot. My Bluetooth card occasionally appears as anonymous memory and when that happens I just take it out, blow out the dust and put it back in.

Also, this was happening to me with a CHEAP CF card, but all others worked flawlessly.  So it could be the card.  Every other card worked everytime, but the CHEAPO one worked 1 out of 5 times.....very annoying.

This is a known bug in the combination of newer cardmanager releases and the embedix kernel. It was hard to find, but it is fixed now. I'm sorry, but there won't be an upgrade for the 3.3.6 series, so you will have to wait until 3.5.1 is out.
