more apps on x11 feed
« on: December 11, 2003, 01:04:37 am »
fyi... I was checking the x11 feed at www.cacko.biz/~sash/feed and found a few new ones:

circuslinux_1.0.3-1_armv5tel.ipk
fluxbox_0.9.6_arm.ipk
freedroid_0.8.4-1_armv5tel.ipk
gnuboy_1.0.3-1_armv5tel.ipk
tuxpuck_0.8.1-1_armv5tel.ipk
xblast_2.38_arm.ipk

I\'ve updated the feed at www.zaurususergroup.com/x11feed/

hopefully they\'re good!

regards,

offroadgeek

offroadgeek,

Would it be possible for you to create a webpage with links to each of those .ipks, but also with descriptions of what they do?

I have no idea what 90% of those are.

Also...will Wellenreiter or Kismet work on X11?  I haven\'t upgraded to the X11 ROM just yet, but I think I\'ll try it this evening.

Wellenreiter as QT/Opie application wont work that easily, see the discussion here about QT/Opie apps on the X11-ROM.  The Kismet 2.8.1 package on killefiz.de works perfectly. For GUI, use wirekismet.

Looks like the cacko team has done just that!  check this out - ipk feed

I was thinking of mirroring the same thing in the ZUG downloads area.

also btw, the cacko team has updated their screenshots page with several of the new games.

the only crappy thing is that I keep getting my ass beat in tuxpuck    I guess that\'s my problem though

If anyone wants to try, opie-reader can be built for QT/X11 just by commenting out the #define USEQPE from useqpe.h. I don\'t have a C7* and so haven\'t got the build environment for it but if anyone with the X11 build environment wants to do it then you can get an old version of opie-reader from the opie CVS (non-core/apps) or you can pm me to ask for up to date source.

That would be the best xmas present ever!  I have been *lost* without my opie-reader... and have actually contemplated switching back to the sharp based rom... just so I can have it back...

I have family in town this weekend, but if I can find the time, I\'ll see if I can pull down the source and modify that file.

Send me an e-mail at timwentford@hotmail.com if you want a current snapshot of the opie-reader source. Mobipocket/html support is greatly improved, plus I\'ve added a more flexible method of key-mapping which will suit those people with keyboards much better than the current CVS version.
On the downside, I\'ve split it into plug-ins so there are more bits to compile/install which means that it does make sense to start with the monolithic version because there will be no issues with dynamic loading and only one makefile to generate/fix.
Feel free to ask for a snapshot at any time, which ever way you decide.
Oh, and offroadgeek...don\'t switch back, just send me a C8* or C7* zaurus so I can support you properly ;^)

ya, you ahve QT 3.1.2 ... the other roms are based on QT2...
my code can run under qt2, but I\'d rather have qt3.

Thanks Sash!

I wish!  I was acutally thinking of buying a spare 5500, and possibly 7x0 to \"loan\" out to developers without units... it could be a nice ZUG service...  the 5500 is easy to get... I just can\'t justify spending the $$ for a \"spare\" 7x0.

I\'m in the UK so I suspect it wouldn\'t help much so I\'ll settle for you testing the build when someone gets it done

I\'ve sent the latest snapshot off to someone who is going to try and do the build so hopefully you\'ll get your Xmas present. If anyone else tries you will also need to set PICDIR (in QTReaderApp.cpp) to point to a more sensible directory than it currently does. You will also want icons in that directory eventually but that won\'t be necessary for a first cut.

Oh, and it will work under QT 2 or QT 3 - I use QT 2 under Windows and QT 3 on my Linux laptop so whichever you have on the X11 ROM should be okay.

Yeah... Thanks TimW..

the qtreader builds perfectly with a few changes to *.mak files.... the most significant change is to deleta a -march & -processor flags from compiler options...

And i\'m not sure, but it seems like we need to add a readahead buffer to qtreader because of pure speed of PGUP, PGDOWN commands...

It\'s getting better&better...
