What's the data rate like?
What is the phone number for? Does it also enable the Z to be used as a phone?

Max data rate is 144 kbps , not a fast as wifi on my SL-6000 but very very usable. A page on wifi took about 6 seconds to load with alot of gifs and animation and the same page took about 11 seconds plus I was using the sprint card in my basement were coverage isn't that strong. The phone number is tied into yyour account and if you use a pocketpc you can use it as a phone also software is being worked on for the same features for the zaurus. I also use it for my voip accounts because it works with tkcphone and calls to regular phones with my net2phone account which is very cheap,,,cheaper than pre-paid phonecards.

Could you provide some details,

Which ROM are you using, how does the card work (does it appear as a serial port, network card, modem?)

How long does the battery last (are you using the external add-on batt?)

Can you connect external antenna?

Hello Seva,....The card has it's own antenna that extends from the side and swivles in any direction. I'm working with a SL-6000 with the original rom but the drivers will work on any rom that handles Qtopia and also OE with the Sharp libs. On the 6K the battery last pretty long being that the card only draws 3.3 volts just like a compact flash card plus the6K's battery is stronger than the Sl-5x00 series. The extra battery clips onto the back of the unit and is abuot the size of a pack of Tictacs and comes in handy because you are not using power from the Z itself. I assume that the card is as a modem becuase it shows up as Sprint connection in the network menu for Dialup Service. It makes my Z a true mobile tool and I don't even need to add the extra battery.http://www.cf2031.com/

I just noticed that the pages stored in my Z's bookmark folder are fully loaded in under 5 seconds...Wow !

I checked these out as I am moving and need to update/change my service. I am a SprintPCS customer (my brother is a dealer) so I checked them out. THe service for this card starts at $40/mo for 20MB (I think). I thought that was a little pricey. I am planning to go with AT&T wireless and start with the 1MB for $2.54/mo and see how it goes.

You can get one of these cards off eBay for $25-30.

I think I may be getting one, I played with a friend's briefly and it just appears as a serial device (ttyS03) to Linux.

BTW, the external battary is required when using the card in a CF slot, it may damage your CF slot otherwise.

I used to have a Sprint PCS card. It was fairly usable but awkward with the extra battery and size -- not to mention having to recharge yet another battery every night.

I now have an excellent solution with the new Verizon v710 phone with bluetooth. I use a Socket rev. F bluetooth card that doesn't even stick out of my Zaurus. It's faster and more reliable than the Sprint card. I use it every day.

Is it really faster? Have you measured the speed and latency? Doesn't Verizon use the same CDMA/1xRTT that sprint does?

I get about 300-350 ms latency for a 56 byte ping, and speed of around 112Kbit/s down and 50 or so Kbit/s up.
