Where to buy screen protectors
« on: July 25, 2004, 07:42:07 pm »
Everybody seems to be talking about screen protectors, but I have no idea where to get them.
Anyone?

Best screen protectors I have ever seen: WWW.ADDITIONSINFO.COM

A bit pricey ($20), but if you register in 30 days, you get a screen protection gaurantee (at least that was what mine said when I got them...never did register though).

Make sure to buy the PDA version (not Cell Phone) and you cut to size...which is nice becuase the extra can be used for cells and cameras.

Also, the price includes free shipping, a nice case to hold them, a nice quality screen cleaner and an applicator.  Oh yeah, and you get 15 of them, not 10 like most places.

Bubbles are always a pain to avoid when applying any protector, but these are VERY clear when applied right and more than big enough for any Zaurus (5500 or Cx00).  You can pull them up and reapply several times to get the bubbles out and they still are very clear when finished.

The best screen protector I've tried on the Zaurus is the Overlay Brilliant - so  clear you won't even realize you have one on.

It's currently available from ShirtPocket for ₤9.95. I'm currently trying to get hold of 20 or so of them and if I do I'll open up a ebay shop to sell them.

Stubear
Thanks for the tips!
I ordered the ones from myordercenter.com (The Overlay Brilliant looked really nice - but not available here in the US)

Cheers,

Brando....in my experience they are the best!  Tried G2, wasn't too pleased.

The best I've ever had was some clear rubbery packing material sheets from a box sent for work under a Circuit City extented warranty service.
Almost thought it was vinyl, but it was too stretchy, I think.
Lasted forever on a casio, but that piece was too small for the zaurus and of course somebody tossed the rest of the stuff.

I have a G2 on mine... The G2 in use is superb... The installation, however is the most expensive process I have ever gone through for such an inexpensive add on...

So they ship you Two or three screen protectors... They're a hard plastic and fit between the LCD and case. You're supposed to wedge them in there...

First one... Got finger prints all over it in installing it, removed it...

2nd one... Creased it in installing it and then SHATTERED my screen in removing it.

3rd one, after getting my Z refurbished went on with no creases, dust, hair, fingerprints... And took me nearly an hour to get like that... The first two I though I could install in 5 minutes...

I'll chalk it up to Jackassedness... Live and learn. Next time dismantle the Z, put the screen protector in and reassemble it.

Just ordered some weeks ago screen protectors from AI... [edit] only for US customers?

Now I have tried Boxwave's SL-C3000 protector. Very easy to install and looks great and durable. But the size doesn't fit exactly. 3mm is missing vertically.

If somebody doesn't want to install a screen protector, i would recommend a stylus some fits Z's silo and has softer touch (you can get these from pdair and figlabs). [/edit]
