roms wont start

i have a sl5500
i have been trying to get 2 differant chinese roms to load
plus the open zaurus roms
chinese roms i have tryed 2 differant ones
rom 1 sd 0.9.4 will load  lights go out  when started will gets lots of scrolling text and stops  text has root password garbled and i have # promt
rom2 lights go out but only get sharp screan and flashing curser.

open zaurus does about the same.

i have got the tkcompany rom to load plus the z engery rom to load
any clues as to what i'm doing wrong

ok found another chinese rom 3.10 got it to load and works .
but still would like to have an idea why open zaurus wouldn't load.
