Couple of weeks ago I had a request by a manager to replace his laptop with somthing lighter but with a keyboard.  Aha I thought Zaurus to the rescue but on second thoughts this guy is not what your call tech savy.......

So I came up with a wish list.

My ideal would be a Pocket sized system that would run thin client for any app on the LAN, be able to undock and run Web browser, local apps offline email etc but still be able to exploit WIFI and cable internet when available.  Somthing like the old HP Jordona was almost there as were the PSION netbooks but I cant see any contempory devices which can do the above the Zs dont seem to be quite there either as there are no built in devices for VGA out, WIFI (Iv seen a site selling old LG HPCs which are also nearly there  Here )

A PDA with a keyboard and touch screen (still missing my PSION)
Ability to drive a monitor and keyboard (when docked)
CF slot or builtin WIFI / Network port (RJ45)
Citrix client (We're a M$ network with citrix for remote users)
Ability to connect to Exchange to pickup email (no host PC required to synch with)
USB host port?
Bluetooth?
Cost less than GBP500

If there is a device that does the above I think there could be a market.

Ideas?

IBM X series thinkpad. It'll cost you more than GBP500 to get all that in a light-enough package. Basically, it's a very light notebook.

you could also take a look at the oqo which is finaly out or the sony vgn U71 ... but I think they're both more expensive than 500£  ... btw I think you're kinda dreaming finding a pda-sized-full-featured laptop for this prize as the Zaurus might the closest thing to that (except for the vga connectivity part) ... btw tell me if youfind something it might be interresting

CF RamStar 512 Mb / Hitachi 4Gb microdrive (thanks to creative's muvo² :p)

Anyone willing to donate for my work, please consider donate to pdaXrom and/or OE/OZ projects instead, I wouldn't have been able to do anything without them ...

flybook? I tihnk it's made by a company called dialogue or something like that. It's totally piqued my interest of late. Seems hard to get in the US still (I'm in US, sorry, don't know about situation in Europe). Saw a review of it at handtops I think was going for around 1800 USD, though.
