« on: August 21, 2004, 06:08:16 am »
Hi guys,

I feel a bit lame  can any1 help me to fdisk and format my new CF card for rom for use? Basically if I try to do fdisk /dev/hda it reports unable to open ...  So what device is the CF card sits under?  Is there a way to tell?

I am using OZ 3.2 if thatr helps?

Take Care,

jamie

It should be 'fdisk /dev/hda'

Not sure why this doesn't work.

You have to unmount the card first.

    umount /mnt/cf

cat /proc/partitions

This should show you any devices and partitions that linux recognises (it won't show you the MTD devices for the flash).

confused, none of the suggestions helped and the cat /proc/partitions just produced major minor#blocks name, that is it!

OK, if you aren't seeing anything in /proc/partitions then you either have a screwed ROM, duff card or there's something wrong with the CF port.

Check to make sure there's no fluff/bent pins if you can see into the slot.
