MAME Errors

I have only had the Z for a week now and it ROCKS.  Going to sell my sony UX50 next week.

All the apps i try work 100%.  BUT then i tried MAME, i love this program on my PC.  I have tried MaxMame, xmame and zmamefull

ALL three give me the same error..
"SlSharedManager: can't get proc entry"
Display size = 480x640

I am running the sharps default Terminal program and have tried both as the default user and the root user, both with no luck.

The Mame programs are on my sd card at /mnt/card/mame/

I haven't tried MAME on the Z, but the SNES and NES emulators I have must be run through the application launcher not from the command line.  Try creating a new application on one of your tabs and then try launching it (you will probably need to have it set to use the magnified screen since it is most likely set to run 320x240 - do a forum search on SDL_QT_INVERT_ROTATION if you are having problems with the correct orientation).

I just setup MaxMAME and is working well... (well... I am still having some issues with the keys, but I am sure I will fix those).  With MaxMAME you have to install libSDL and Zlib, by the sounds of it, you are missing a library.

  Also, I had to modify the advmame.rc file to include the directory on my CF card where I had the roms.  It runs Ok from either root or zaurus from the CF card directly from the Konsole...

  I.e. ./MaxMAME zaxxon

Yeah, I tried MaxMame as well and it just keeps telling me the game is not supprted...I tried 5 older games and still nothing.

as for the changes to the rc file, this is the only line that I modified... this is from memory because I don't have my Zaurus here with me at the moment... but just add your directory to the roms_directry line (perhaps the line says romspath).  So for intance if you have your roms on /mnt/cf/MAME/roms, you just add that followed by a ':' at the beginning of the line after the '=' sign!

P.S. How do you get the games to go faster?
For some reason I've tried MaxMAME and it is slow as heck!
I have installed and run DOOM on the Z and it works slick, it uses
the sdl libs too.  Is there something you need to configure to make MAME run faster???
