Debian on C750 Considerations
« on: September 08, 2004, 10:06:18 am »
Hello people

I am thinking of setting up Debian on my C750 according to the instructions found at
Sharp Zaurus C700 Debian-Qtopia
and at
Generic Template.

My considerations:
1. I have a Lexar 256MB SD card and a 512MB Microdrive. The Lexar card sometimes (very rarely) "acts up"
by turning read-only when I try to copy large files (this common problem many of you are having - remounting fixes it). I am afraid that maybe I 'll "worsen" the situation if I try to format it as ext2. So, I was thinking, where is the best place to put Debian? SD or Microdrive? Pros and cons?

2. A more philosophical question ;-) . Since this system (from www.pocketworkstation.org) appears to be a reasonably complete Debian system, what 's stopping the community from repackaging it as an independent
ROM without the Sharp/Qtopia stuff?

And a third one:

3. How easy is it to uninstall Debian? Also, is it possible to remove the card with Debian (SD or CF), pop in another card, do some work in Qtopia and then put back the Debian card?

Thanks for your time.
