Well I got nmap installed and running, but I am running into a couple of problems. Firstly, and this is probably a non-issue, it keep complaining that it can't find nmap-services. Secondly, I can scan the Z itself using 127.0.0.1 or it's assigned address from the router, but I cannot scan any other computer on the network. I can ping them and I can even mount shares that are on them but a scan returns that the address is down or not accepting ping requests. I can scan all of the computers from each other but not from the Z. Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that I tested the scanning with both a wireless and wired ethernet card and got the same results.

Well I never got this working but I found a nice alternative in the form of a java-based scanner called jportscan and it works quite nicely. Java applications run great on the Z and appear to take up less space. I think I'll go out try to find a bunch of java apps now
