Exit Opie-console Without Using The Stylus?
« on: November 29, 2004, 11:17:15 am »
How do I close the console without tapping the x in the top corner?

Since the cancel button is esc (for things like vi) I can't use that.
I used to type 'exit', but due to the major changes in the console (new features!) that doesn't work anymore.
There is no exit option in the menu at the top.

Thanks
Simon

You're talking about opie-terminal (which comes pre-installed)?

I'd just install konsole (from the feed) and use that (works just the same as before).

Have you tried Ctrl-D ?  Works on most...

How exactly do I press control+D?
I can press ctrl+v, ctrl+c and ctrl+x, because those are cut, copy and paste (using Fn+v, Fn+c, etc).
Fn+D gives a '#'.

Thanks

Typing
Code: [Select]
exit and ENTER will close the console window without having to use stylus.

Although it's more than Ctrl+D (hint on Z Shift+FN = Ctrl)

Stubear is right: on the 5x00 zaurii FN+SHIFT = CTRL.  I didn't mention this because I didn't know which Z you have.  Since you use vi I figured you already knew how to type CTRL.

The exit command didn't work properly on Opie Terminal on OZ 3.5.1, at least here. It stopped the console but didn't exit the program.

Just replaced it with embeddedkonsole. :^)
SL-5500, OpenZaurus 3.5.2 -- hey, it is good! :^)

It is a bug in opie-console. A patch would be welcome.
