Can't get Opera 7.55 to work on C750
« on: October 01, 2004, 03:06:15 pm »
Hello,

Just received my C750 and loaded Opera from the IBM website but can't get it work.  When tapping the Opera icon it loade for 1 sec. then goes back to the application screen.
I am a Linux newbie so I am pretty much lost.  Is there a command line I need to enter?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok when I type the ln command it says ln: opera Permission Denied.  Sorry but I am really new at this.  Trying to learn though.

did you login as root before the command ?

(if your line begins with $, then you are normal user. Type the command " su " and press enter, the line should begin with #)

cheers

Thank you for the advice regarding linking from /usr/share/opera to /home/QtPalmtop/opera, now it works for me! Although there doesn't seem to be that great a difference between Opera 7.30 and 7.55, the new version works much better with our university webmail system, which is based on Javascript.
