« on: October 13, 2004, 10:40:40 am »
Hi ...

sorry for newbies questions ... where are there some informations of functions of the RAM / ROM / FLASH / NAND FLASH thing of my c860 ...

Why is it possible to make a nice table wight by flashing the Z? What inside this ROM in Z?

I have to read something about flashing of Z ... different flash thing NAND Restore (original SHARP ROM) and Flashing like OZ ...

Partitioning the memory ( RAM / FLASH ) ... original SHARP layout ...

Urgent looking for infos (hardware / startup / ...) but could not really find some

THANKS very much
Martin

Try saying all that again using different words.

Your posting is a little difficult to understand.

Hi iamasmith,

thanks again ... sorry for confusing you ... found it ... my mistake because of flashing pdaxrom ... kernel update failed and oz  kernel leftback ... now it works

... another problem ... what about the mem sizes of nand  (c860) partitions ...

... how to do a hard reset of my c860 ... after crashes in X or died services like usbnetd on Z

... problem connecting my Z to my SuSE (kernel 2.6.5-7.108-default) installation using usbnet ... confused about all this settings for hotplug, virtual networkcard, usbmap,  ???

read some Howtos but did not find some specials for SuSE 9.1 because hotplug mechanism has change since 9.0

Thanks for any help
Martin

I can connect my 860 to the internet via a laptop running SuSE 9.1.  I followed the instructions contained in articles like this:

http://www.ruault.com/Zaurus/ethernet-over-usb-howto.html

Note that you don't have to recompile the kernel or probe any modules.  The hotplugging works too.  But I now have a wifi card for the Z so I don't use this method any more.

I can't provide you with specific details at the moment as I am not at that machine, sorry.

PS.  Full stops are much more useful then ellipses ("...")

Go ahead Martin, fire any questions you have at me.  I got my PDA about two weeks and have probably spend around 40 hours configuring it and trying to work out which ROM to go for, I also need networking to work well, along with a decent terminal emulator.

Where did you get your PDA from?  What was the original Rom on it?
