Big Dialog, little screen :(
« on: October 14, 2004, 04:27:12 am »
Guys

X-Windows isnt too happy with the Z's 640x480 screen and when I was installing Gimp, I had this HUGE dialog on the screen.  I was trying to navigate around the dialow with little success, wondering how may <tab>s to get the the [Continue] button

Is there some elegent way of moving a dialog on the screen, or maybe a virtual screen with scrolling?

I used the "OK" button on zaurus to proceed
a bit tricky but at least i finished the installation process.

Yes

But I am looking for a generic solution, where you need to read and fill in bits of the Dialog that are not visible.

Using the <rotate> sometimes helps, and sometimes you can drag the dialogs a little.

But there has to be a better way?

I'm pretty sure this worked in openbox: Hold Alt (the Address button) then drag the window around.... That will move it as if you had dragged the title bar.

agreed. I use the altkey plus drag.

it's annoying, but it does allow somethings to work.

also notice that some apps don't start with friendly geometries.

Yeah, actually I'm trying to figure out if theres a way to start a program, and then have it auto-maximized. On my to-do list ;-)

We are hoping to implement the maximize window functions - or at least on programs that are too big :-)

Just make sure that "maximise" means "really use the whole of the screen" when you are on desktop 2+ where there is no panel!
