who cares if it\'s big... it\'s usb host!  Are you actually expecting a device like this to be extremely small???

read the product desciption...

\"Provides full USB Host Port power to each port with AC adapter (5v @ 500ma)\"

they may not support the zaurus, but I would imagine that if someone got a hold of the drivers/source, it could be done on the Z.

Interpocket used to make one which supported the Zaurus. But, uh, they seem to have given up. However, Ratoc still seem to be making theirs and, while they don\'t officially support the Zaurus, this driver claims to provide that support. At $139 I guess it\'s not hideously expensive either.

it\'s the English way, if you can\'t get one for your machine, then focus on the bad points and try to convince yourself you wouldn\'t want one anyway.

But seriously though, if sharp can add usb host to the 6000, it could be smaller surely.

This does have two slots though, and the slots themselves take up room.

Personnaly, when mobile the only thing I would really want to connect to my zaurus are things like my camera, but I got an SD card camera so i just swap the cards over.

Everthing else can be connected using other methods, keyboard, gps bluetooth.

most of what is left, is either too big to carry anyway (printer, scanner) or pointless connecting anyway (dvd burner?).

What would you connect which would really add value and cannot be done in other ways?  Things like a hard disk may spring to mind to store films, or mp3 files etc, but you couldn\'t really use one on a train cos you need to plug it into a power supply.  You would be better getting a huge cf card (upt 6gb now).

What would you plug into it if you had one?

sure it could be made smaller, but what would you connect it to?  keep in mind that it\'s a *powered* usb hub (with power cable).  the 6000 usb hub is not *powered*.

besides... manufacturing an accessory to a device is significantly different than manufacturing a component that will be built into the device.

with the x11 rom, there are *many* options.. I would get a micro mouse (one of those mini ones), and a portable cdrom burner... I probably wouldn\'t use either of these away from home (maybe the mouse), but it would be great when at home as a laptop replacement.  And since my thinkpad just died... this would be great.
