Ambicom problem
« on: October 20, 2004, 09:50:21 am »
I've seen other problems with Kismet, but mine's just basic connectivity.  This card worked find under the old Cacko ROM, but when I put in my Ambicom Wifi card (WL1100C) the led blinks, cardctl detects it, but the wlan applet says there's no card detected and ipconfig says it isn't there.

cardctl ident looks a little something like this:

PRODID_1="AmbiCom"
PRODID_2="WL1100C 802.11b CF-Card"
PRODID_3="2.2"
PRODID_4=""
MANFID=d601,0002
FUNCID=6
PRODID_1=""
PRODID_2=""
PRODID_3=""
PRODID_4=""
MANFID=0000,0000
FUNCID=255

And dmesg, just after inserting the card, looks a little something like this:

utf8
ide_detach(0xc35e1980)
ide_release(0xc35e1980)
pxa_pcmcia_init(0)

Did you try using the system tools -> network settings tool in matchbox GUI? I will almost bet that fixes it.. And also think this is in the FAQ on www.pdaXrom.org

You almost won a bet.  System tools -> network settings.  You'd think with my actual job in windows I'd check the gui tools first...

It does.  And my embarassment at it having been so simple is nearly equal to my relief that it works now.
