What happened to my topic?
« on: October 21, 2004, 06:42:30 pm »
After posting a topic (SC-3000), and then scanning further down I realized that the subject had already been broached in another thread and it was in fact old news. But is that any reason for my topic to be removed from the list? What gives?

Regards,

it looks like the topic was deleted (per the moderator logs)...  we have been seeing a ton of duplicate posts recently, simply because people are not searching or even looking at the existing theads.

I typically merge duplicate posts, but sometimes if the duplicate post offers nothing new, it can be deleted.

Interesting. In the post I was basically asking if anyone had seen a link that I had provided to an article on the SL-C3000, and whether or not it was old news or not. Even after finding the other topic that covered the subject, the same link was not offered in it, which basically made my post something other than redundant.

Didn't know the topic police were so vigilant.

Guess I'll need to make sure anything I think to offer is completely new to everyone on the board. My apologies.

If you had of posted it in the existing thread it probably wouldn't have been deleted.

There have been a lot of people complaining that there are too many dup threads, and I support OFG and the moderators in their efforts to clean things up a bit.

When there is a big announcement, we obviously don't mind many people talking about it.  We don't want 500 posts though all about the same thing.  Like org said, usually we'll just merge the posts onto the main one.  This time though, the moderator felt that it was just better to delete it.

We don't mean to offend anyone at all; we just want to keep the board clean.  Our apologies.

Since there is nothing new offered in this thread, can it be deleted yet?
