Java downloads?
« on: October 24, 2004, 09:38:14 am »
I am new to this web site, and I just noticed there are no Java programs available in the ZUG download area.  Is this by design?  Could we have a Java download section added to the ZUG download area?

Are there enough java apps to warrant a seperate java area?  If there are any java apps in the ZUG Downloads area, it would be under:  ZUG Downloads -> Packages -> Applications

the zug downloads area will go away anyways (as it is today), and become the new zsi2.

Well there could be a lot of Java apps.  I did a search for the keyword "Java" on the site & didn't find any.  (BTW I just uploaded one.)

I know that some Zaurus users don't like Java, and I know that many Linux users don't either.  People at my local LUG rarely discuss Java, and usually it isn't flattering when they do.

I'm not sure whether the lack of a Java specific section is because there aren't many Java apps for the Z, or whether no one has uploaded many to the site.  I would suspect the latter.

probably the case... you should also check out the ZUG Feed (which isn't tied directly to the downloads area)...

I checked out the feed area, and I noticed a couple of old versions of some programs I had written.  One of them is VERY old.  Its so old it is probably a pre-SL5500 version.  I have uploaded the newest.  I have uploaded the new versions to the download area.  Would you please remove the old versions from the feed?  The old files in question are: java-jcryptpad_0.52_arm.ipk  and java-jportscan_1.0_arm.ipk .

Thanks.
