« on: December 25, 2003, 01:59:59 am »
Im new so please dont flame.

Im wondering....when instructions tell you to put files in the root of an SD or CF card, where exactly is that?
Im figuring its saying to put files in the card and in none of folders, right?

....was just wondering.

Well, the root of SD is normaly /mnt/card and the root of the CF is usualy /mnt/cf

I\'m not sure how to answer the rest of your question as it is a litle cryptic, could explain what you are asking?  amybe I\'m just being thick, but anyway...

my question is: where exactly is /mnt/card?
I just thought I\'d just drag and drop it into the card itself but I guess I\'m wrong.

thanks

Yes that is correct, on the card but not in a directory or folder.

The path to root directory of the card is the mount point for the card.

/mnt has a symbolic link to /var/mnt
/var/mnt has these symbolic links
lrwxrwxrwx card -] /usr/mnt.rom/card
lrwxrwxrwx cf -] /usr/mnt.rom/cf

# df -h
Filesystem                Size      Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mmcda1             116.2M     71.7M     38.4M  65% /usr/mnt.rom/card
/dev/hda1               237.0M    211.7M     13.0M  94% /usr/mnt.rom/cf

The first one is when you have the card mounted under Linux (your Z specifically). Under Windows (depending on your software), then yes, just drag and drop straight onto the card. If you want, you can then stick the card in your Z and navigate to the /mnt/card or /mnt/cf directory and you\'ll see the files there.
