Best Rom For Bluetooth?

I am looking to switch from the Sharp ROM which lacks a GUI interface for BlueZ and try a differient ROM. What ROM has the best Pre configured support for Bluetooth. I love my Z but it irritates me to no end that people running wince machines can using a gui do things in seconds that take me minutes to do by command line. Things such as scanning for devices, connecting and pairing to detected devices, and accessing bluetooth services ?

What kinds of support do the various ROMs have for Bluetooth ?
Also what of the SL-6000 with bluetooth ? Is it time to upgrade hardware to get simple bluetooth functionallity ?

Note: I use a socket Bluetooth rev f CF card.

Well, OpenZaurus has a GUI Bluetooth Manager that can discover devices, display their supported profiles and supposedly also send files via OBEX, configure DUN and do other things but I'm not that far yet.

Your CF card needs to be up & running before you run the Bluetooth Manager. For me (D-Link DCF-650BT) this means running 3 commands each time I insert the card. I have these in a script file but I have to run it manually so I'm not completely free from the command line. I guess if you study /etc/hotplug and find some literature about it you should be able to set things up for GUI-only operation.

Now that I know about it OZ is definitely an option. But dont you find it frustrating that some sales-type sitting next to you has a quicker easier time doing basic stuff with a *wince* machine.

You said your card has to be supported before you can use the GUI. Is there a list somewhere of natively supported cards?

Does anyone have any experience they would like to share with bluetooth on any of the other ROMS or with the SL-6000 with built-in bluetooth?

It definitely works with bluez, not sure whether it works with affix. The relevant packages are opie-bluetoothapplet, opie-bluetoothmanager and opie-bluetooth-manager-help-en (the last one contains just an empty HTML file so I can't really say).

Check the "Other" section of ZUG Howtos for a Bluetooth Howto and a compatibility list. I believe Socket F should work without problems. In any case, there are quite a few threads in the Accessories section of the forums to get you started.

It's true that nothing is free in the "free software" community, i.e. all work has to be done by someone and if there's no-one to do it - tough luck. I can usually stop my frustration by reminding myself that this is a path I chose myself. Another great antidote is the knowledge that a contribution I make can be picked up by anyone who needs it and vice versa.
