Regular Crashes
« on: November 25, 2004, 08:31:52 am »
I think this is a Cacko thing,  ever since getting my Zaurus C700 I've been getting regular crashes.
The screen goes black and text is printed to screen and the Zaurus boots back to normal from there.
Unfortunately it always happens when I am not prepared and the messages are only up for a second or so.. So it is hard to give the exact screen messages.
There are two messages.
One which seems to be related to use of networking complains about the unavailibility of module ppp-compress.
And the other which can happen under any circumstances complains about /etc/modules.conf being older than something else to do with modules ??
I'm hoping this a known issue with a fix.
Any ideas ?
Can't seem to find a system log with these messages in.

Using Cacko 1.21B

Yes, I get this infrequently too.... followed by a blank white screen before it hits the Time Setting page.

Apparently there is a but in Qtopia that causes it to fail from time to time and the general consensus of opinion is that this is what's happening on Cacko 1.21b.

I thought at first it was doing this when the jffs2 defrag kicked in but I can't see anything in dmesg after it happens.

Incidentally it's not the whole thing rebooting it's just Qtopia restarting. You can see this if you check 'uptime' when this happens.

Seems to happen mostly when I synchronise and large numbers of emails are added or removed (by sync)
