Hi,

Appreciate someone can help me out. I am a totally noob here. I managed to get Wellenreiter working. However, when I launch it, it says "You have started Wellenreiter as non-root. You will have only limited functionality. Proceed anyway?" If I click Yes, I am still able to detect the WiFi networks but certain functions are grey out, such as Intrusion etc..
I have already check the Execute with root privilege box.
Any idea? Help...
Sounds like you may not have the most current wellenreiter installed. If you installed opie-wellenreiter, remove it and install wellenreiter from the cacko feed. This version includes a wrapper that will run wellenreiter using sudo which will remove the error message you're getting. No need to write your own script or enter cardctl commands in the konsole before running Wellenreiter. Checking the "Run as Root" doesn't work for Wellenreiter.

Cheers,
Jerry

Stupkid:
Nice work on the updated Wellenreiter (FYI, I updated without downloading the entire feed  )

I'm experiencing the GUI crashing if resolution changes. Anyone else having this problem? It'll work fine in either landscape or portrait as long as it is started in that mode.

Tip for those that run Qtopia in root mode, edit out the sudo commands in the start_wellenreiter script & it runs fine.

Cheers,
Jerry
You give me too much credit Maslovsky did most of the work on wellenreiter I just packaged it up.  I noticed the problem with crashing when switching screen orientation.  Not sure what that is about.

Then thanks to you both

I wonder if the GUI resolution change problem is related to all of the QPixmap errors that it throws when loading. Appears there are four images it can't find when loading.

Thanks again,
Jerry

I figured it out    turns out the problem is that the binary "wellenreiter" doesn't have an icon associated with it, the wrapper script does but that's not enough.  If you create an icon for the wellenreiter binary in the Tab applet when you run the wrapper and the icon shows up in the task bar and rotation works without problem.

So you may want to update the ipk to also create a icon for the binary too.

Cheers,
Jerry

Hmph.  The best laid plans of mice and men I suppose.

I was hoping to not have two icons or to allow the user to start the app via the Qtopia icon.  I will update the wellenrieter when I get a chance or see if there is some other way to fake out QPE.

Thanks jerrybme!

Does this happen with the most recent version of wellenreiter package I've sent to you (with binary in /usr/local/bin)? This version should display icon in taskbar properly.

The current package on the feed has been fixed.  Qtopia needs to have a .desktop file, which lists the executable's name to not loose the icon.  Kind of cheesy, but it works.

I've installed kismet-qt from the cacko feed using ipkg, but kismet package hasn't been installed. Is the package needed to run kismet-qt? I have to install it? If this is correct, it should be a dependence package of kismet-qt, correct?

Is it necessary to modify the launch icon to execute it with root? or that was only necessary in previous versions?

Thanks.

Ok, I'm going to install it. I thought that ipkg was able to install the package and its dependences.

Thanks!

Only if you install directly from the feed.  Downloading and installing packages does not install the dependencies.

I just installed qpegaim from the feed, and it installed 5 libs it depended on flawlessly. All the protocols work as well. Great job on the feed, guys

Hi stupkid,

I installed kismet-qt directly from the feed with the commandline. With gaim there was no problem, but kismet-qt didn't install kismet. Now I've installed kismet and all libraries  with no problem.
